Bookmarkz is a program designed to promote the enjoyment of reading to Year 7 students at North Geelong Secondary College.
During timetabled Bookmarkz sessions in the Library, students are encouraged to share their books and ideas with their teachers and classmates. Students are also taught how to use the various resources and facilities available to them in the Library.
Each year, the students are involved in various activities to promote Children’s Book Week. Students will be encouraged to participate in the annual Write Now! Competition. The completed entries are colourfully bound and placed on display in the Library.
The Library staff and EASE teachers, are very enthusiastic about the Bookmarkz program. A strong emphasis is placed on the importance of reading independently. Year 7 students are also encouraged to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Reading is a vital part of every child’s education. With everyone’s support we can make the Bookmarkz program an enjoyable and valuable aspect of education at North Geelong Secondary College.
If you have any queries regarding the Bookmarkz program, please do not hesitate to contact the Library staff.
