Year 9 Community Engagement Program
2016 saw 9G focus quite heavily on the environment and sustainability. Linking heavily with Science the Community Engagement Teacher and Science Teacher, these students were able to create a working vegetable patch that Food Technology could utilise from scratch. Assessment is ongoing participation and evidenced by the completed project as shown below.
As an introduction to environments and pre-cursor to constructing a vegetable garden students built window sill herb gardens for the Food Tech room.
- Rad Bike ProjectStudents began dismantling disused bikes for our ‘Rad Bike Project’.
Following on from sustainability and the environment, 9G changed tact and began focusing on recycling, the community and ‘Upcycling’. Again assessment was ongoing participation and completion of a range of hands on tasks.
