Alumni News

Last week, Evelyn Wiese (Class of 2006) returned to deliver a session to the Year 12 VCE Vocational Major Work Related Skills classes on the topic of transferable and interview skills. The Year 12s have just finished presenting their 'Education Journey' to parents, staff and friends. They will take part in their exit interview during the first week of next term. Many will be seeking holiday employment so the interview tips imparted by Evelyn should come in handy! Evelyn has held a couple of positions in Human Resources and so is well placed to talk about skills employers are looking for. She is currently the Human Resources Manager for Parks Victoria. After spending eight years in a private company she is enjoying the challenge of the extended rigour in government departments. Evelyn spoke about investigating prospective employment opportunities to ensure they were the 'right fit' for each individual. She mentioned that, even with the use of AI to assist in the generation of possible responses, it was important to plan and practise answering questions - sometimes even in front of a mirror or friends!

Her advice - "Whatever decision you make, you will work to make it the right decision"

Thanks, Evelyn, for returning to NGSC to give the Year 12 cohort some tips for their final weeks.
